Restaurant review: Platja Ca La Nuri

You have many restaurant choices for dining near the beach in Barcelona, but to avoid tourist traps, it’s helpful to know a few good spots. Platja Ca La Nuri is one such place. If you’re curious about this restaurant and what they serve, read on.

About Platja Ca La Nuri

Ca La Nuri is a restaurant located on La Barceloneta beach in Barcelona. It’s part of the Nuri hospitality family, which owns a handful of restaurants in Barcelona and has been behind the stove since 1962.

Platja Ca La Nuri is their seaside establishment, known for rice dishes like paellas and fideuàs, as well as various tapas. Located right on the beach, just below the Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta promenade, it can sometimes be hard to find.

The Mediterranean Sea influences not only the menu but also the decor. You can enjoy sitting on the terrace near the sea or inside, overlooking the promenade and the beach. Even the restroom offers this beautiful view!

Platja Ca La Nuri opens daily from 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM and is a popular spot among locals for lunch.

My Experience at Platja Ca La Nuri

During one of our walks along the beach promenade, we decided to have lunch at Platja Ca La Nuri. We were a party of three without a reservation, so it was uncertain if there would be a spot for us.

The restaurant was already packed with a lively mix of locals and tourists. Fortunately, we got a table on the terrace, where we could enjoy the view and ambiance.

We ordered tapas and a seafood fideuà (specifically, fideuà amb llagostí, escamarlà, musclos i cloïsses).

For tapas, we had bunyols (shrimp fritters) and croquetes de rostit (Spanish croquettes with roasted meat), both delicious.

The large pan of fideuà, a kind of paella made with pasta, was the highlight. It’s often served in a large pan, making it ideal for sharing. We found the fideuà at Platja Ca La Nuri very tasty.

The service was quick and friendly, although they occasionally forgot things, which I attribute to the restaurant’s busyness. The seaside location couldn’t be better: even the restrooms had views of the Mediterranean Sea!

For this lunch, including bread, water, beer, and coffee, the three of us paid €75.80, not cheap by Spanish standards, but worth it.

In summary, Platja Ca La Nuri is recommended if you’re looking for a good place to eat paella or fideuà by the sea. Don’t forget to reserve a table on the weekend, as it can get busy.
