With a wide range of apartments available in Barcelona, it can sometimes be challenging to choose the right one. If you didn’t find anything above that makes you happy and want to continue your search, I’d like to offer you some tips for finding a suitable apartment in Barcelona.
Opt for a centrally located apartment with good transportation connections
The ideal location of your apartment can depend on many factors, but if you want to be near most of the attractions, it’s advisable to book an apartment in the center of Barcelona. The historic center and Las Ramblas are the most popular areas to rent a vacation apartment, but I personally find the Eixample district even better. There, you often find beautiful and spacious apartments, and due to its central location and good public transportation connections, you can reach the entire city.
Book your vacation apartment well in advance
Due to the many fairs and events held in the city, available apartments can sometimes be scarce. Booking in advance is often rewarded with lower prices.
Prices for vacation apartments in Barcelona can range from €50 per apartment per night to €100 or more, depending on amenities and the location of the apartment.
If you rent an apartment slightly outside the center of Barcelona, the prices are often much cheaper. In this case, my advice is to always choose a vacation apartment that is close to a metro station.
Choose an apartment with an official tourist license
Once you’ve found an apartment and want to book it, first check and investigate whether the apartment belongs to a rental company (and whether the reviews are positive) and whether it has a tourist license.
You can do this, for example, through this website provided by the municipality. If your chosen address is not listed in this register, it means it’s an illegal apartment. The downsides of illegally renting apartments to tourists are that they don’t follow the rules of the sector, it creates speculation and illegal economies, and it encourages irresponsible, economically unsustainable, and environmentally unfriendly tourism. So always choose apartments with a tourist license.
Check the amenities
When booking your apartment, make sure it provides basic necessities (sheets, towels, kitchen utensils, etc.) and has free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
If you’re arriving by car, check whether the apartment has a parking garage, and if not, consider reserving a parking spot near the apartment.
If you’re traveling with a baby, ensure that the apartment is equipped with essential amenities such as a crib, a high chair, a microwave, and a baby bathtub.
Also, carefully read the terms and conditions before making your booking.
Read reviews from other guests
It’s wise to consult the reviews of other travelers before making your booking. You can do this on various platforms, such as TripAdvisor and Booking.com.
